Another Bridging Post (585 v7 Multiple Bridge Instances)

Hello forum members!
Great forum BTW, lots of interesting posts.

I suppose my post is half networky, half 585 and a whole lot of noob.

I was looking at the Thomson PDFs and found a section on setting up multiple bridges on different physical eth ports and I was wondering if this would solve my dilemma.

I want to set the 585 up in bridge mode with an Untangle Linux box bringing up the PPPoE connection but I'd also like to dangle a netgear router off one of the other physical eth ports in bridge mode to form a seperate wireless network with the netgear router doing it's DHCP and NAT thing separately.

Now I know classically when a router is in bridge mode it's slaved to one connection but I'm curious about this 'Multi Bridge Mode'.

Sorry, should have mentioned that my 585v7 is unlocked.

I've tried progressing with some CLI setup using the Thomson literature and this info... http://adsl2forum.co.uk/showpost.php?p=63624&postcount=76

I suppose my first question is am I barking up the wrong tree here?

Also, being a bit of a router noob, the addr for the pvc_Internet connection is 0.38 (UK, right?) if I set-up another bridge, will it have to have this ATM address also, so traffic can get to and from my ISP?

Hi All,

Has anyone working 2820VN Router
On Firmware 3.3.4
With O2 ISP / ADSL ?????

My 2820VN Router was on firmware 3.3.0, which i upgarded it to Firmware 3.3.4 and now its not working.

Before upgrade O2 broadband was working perfectly fine i was getting more than 5 MB speed.

I have not made any other changes. Only thing changed was the Router firmware upgarde to 3.3.4.

i am using following settings.

2. Click on tab 'MPoA(RFC1483/2684) and enable
3. a. Change Multi-PVC channel to channel 2
b. VPI = 0
c. VCI = 101
d. Modulation = ADSL2+(G.992.5)
e. WAN Connection Detection Mode = Arp Detect
f. Select obtain an IP address Automatically

No Joy at all.

after spending 3 hours lastnight I gave up.
Tonight i will apply firmware 3.3.3, and see if i can get it to work.

Hi, My ISP uses Bridging and Routing mode (no login required, not PPPOE nor PPPOA), and I want to use my Speedtouch 780WL (o2 box based on the one below). It is currently running 6.2.29.2, and the seller claims that the unit is unlocked. True enough, the unit seems to be unlocked (generic branding, and I can select bridge mode when I click on Setup).

This bridge mode works (I can get Public IP from it), but only to one computer. The other PCs get an IP from the DHCP of the unit, and has no internet. I tried fiddling around with telnet, but was lost in the depth of technicals.. lol.

I purchased this thinking that I could utilize the VOIP. Bought this off ebay for $33...

So lately Ive been moving my router a lot (stupid, I know) and now it would appear that doing so seems to have had a major affect on my internet speed.

I have placed everything back as it was originally and have restored the router to factory settings and yet still my internet is going at a snails pace.

After some research I have come to an assumption that the router has just capped the download speed. Going by these forums I can guess it has something to do with SNR.

The chances are I am completely wrong but you guys seem to know considerably more than I do.

Guys, is there anything I can do to get my download speed back to what is used to be?

I would be very, very greatful for any help given!
