Unhappy NETGEAR DG834GT Wireless Issue

Hi,

I am pretty novice when it comes to the internet so here goes. I recently signed up to the BE Broadband Home (Unlimited) Package and was pretty annoyed to find that my quoted 16MB out of 24MB came to a total of 3MB with constant dropping of the wireless connection to both my Macbook and I-Mac computers. So anyway, I tried plugging the modem into my sitting room and started to get 10MB via the ethernet cable to my Macbook but the wireless still wasn't functioning properly. After speaking to someone from BE for about half an hour and getting nowhere, he came to the conclusion my modem was faulty and sent me a new one. I did some research into modems and understood that the DG834GT was a pretty good modem for BE users so went ahead and bought one from ebay for £25 (not the ex SKY modem). After setting it up and having it work beautifully for about 4 hours, the wireless has started playing up and has been for about 10 hours. I have reset the box multiple times and done everything I can think of to make it work.

My Macbook and iMac find the signal at full strength then when I try to view web pages it is ridiculously slow and basically goes nowhere, that is if it even manages to connect at all. I don't get it, I receive 10MB with ethernet and have managed to achieve 8/9MB for 4 hours straight today with wireless and the signal is full on both apple's yet most the time it won't even establish a connection to the internet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I am sick of pulling my hair out over it.

Just to note, I have tried downgrading firmware, upgrading firmware, changing channels, changing location of box (within it's limitations of the cables). Is there such thing as getting a professional round to sort these kind of issues? Anyway thanks for taking the time to read.
